Itinerary The 3-Day  Fes to Marrakech

Day 1: Fes – Middle Atlas – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Your desert adventure begins with a departure from Fes toward the Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is Ifrane, often called the “Little Switzerland of Morocco” because of its alpine-style architecture and clean surroundings.

Continue to the cedar forests, home to Barbary macaques living freely among the trees. The journey then takes you to Midelt, a town known for its agriculture and mineral resources, where you will stop for lunch.

In the afternoon, travel through the stunning Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves, oasis scenery, and small traditional villages. Along the route, enjoy several panoramic viewpoints showcasing the contrast between lush greenery and the surrounding desert landscapes.

By late afternoon, arrive in Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara Desert. Here, begin a camel trek across the golden dunes during sunset before reaching your desert camp. Enjoy dinner and spend the night beneath the clear desert sky.

Day 2: Merzouga – Erfoud – Tinghir – Boumalne Dades

Wake up early to admire the sunrise over the Sahara dunes before enjoying breakfast at the camp. Return by camel and continue toward Erfoud, a town famous for its fossil workshops and unique stone crafts.

Travel through small villages and oasis landscapes to reach Tinghir, surrounded by lush palm groves. Nearby, visit the breathtaking Todra Gorge, where towering canyon walls create one of Morocco’s most spectacular natural sites.

Later in the day, continue toward Boumalne Dades, passing through dramatic valleys and rugged mountain scenery. Explore the Dades Gorge, known for its unusual rock formations and winding mountain roads. Dinner and overnight stay will be in the Dades Valley.

Day 3: Boumalne Dades – Rose Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

After breakfast, continue through the beautiful Rose Valley, famous for its rose cultivation and annual festival celebrations.

Travel onward to Ouarzazate, often referred to as the gateway to the Sahara and well known for its connection to international cinema. Then visit the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed fortified village admired for its traditional mud-brick architecture and historic atmosphere. Walk through the ancient ksar and enjoy the surrounding panoramic views.

Later, begin the journey across the High Atlas Mountains, passing through scenic mountain roads and traditional Berber villages with breathtaking viewpoints along the way.
