10-Day Tanger to Marrakech Desert Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Tangier
Arrive in Tangier and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a panoramic coastal drive to admire cliffs where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean, explore scenic viewpoints, caves, and historic sites. Conclude with a traditional Moroccan dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Tangier – Chefchaouen
Travel to the Blue City of Chefchaouen, set against the Rif Mountains. Explore its serene medina, winding streets, bustling squares, and artisan shops. Dinner and overnight in Chefchaouen.
Day 3: Fes Exploration
Morning stroll in Chefchaouen before heading to Volubilis, the ancient Roman ruins with mosaics, columns, and historical remains. Continue to Meknes, a former imperial city with grand gates and historic monuments. Arrive in Fes, a city known for its medieval architecture and cultural richness. Overnight in Fes.
Day 4: Full Day in Fes
Explore Fes’ UNESCO-listed medina, wander its narrow streets, bustling souks, artisan workshops, and historic sites. Visit madrasas, mosques, leather tanneries, fountains, and Jewish quarter. Conclude with panoramic city views and dinner.
Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga
Depart Fes for the southeast. Pass through Ifrane, known for alpine-style architecture, and the cedar forests near Azrou with Barbary monkeys. Continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains to Midelt for lunch, then reach Merzouga at sunset for your first desert night.
Day 6: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Desert Camp
Wake early to explore the Sahara Desert. Visit local nomadic families and learn about traditional desert life. In the late afternoon, ride camels into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, witness the sunset, and settle into a desert camp for dinner and music under the stars.
Day 7: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Watch the sunrise over the dunes, then return by camel to the desert edge. Travel west to Todra Gorges, a canyon with towering cliffs and clear rivers. Continue to Dades Valley, famous for dramatic rock formations, lush palms, and Berber villages. Dinner and overnight in the valley.
Day 8: Dades Valley – Skoura – Aït Ben Haddou – Marrakech
Travel through Skoura Oasis and the Valley of Roses. Visit Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage kasbah. Continue across the High Atlas Mountains via scenic passes with panoramic views before arriving in Marrakech for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Full Day in Marrakech
Explore Marrakech’s medina, palaces, gardens, and historic sites. Wander lively souks, watch artisans at work, and experience the bustling central square. Enjoy free time in the afternoon for shopping, dining, or further exploration.
Day 10: Departure from Marrakech
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your departure, concluding your 10-day Moroccan adventure with unforgettable memories of landscapes, culture, and history.
